A Sense of Place:
Situated in Huapai North West of Auckland our grove of 730 Olive trees was established in 1997.
Traditionally the Huapai and Kumeu area has been a fruit producing community for many decades.
Apple, pear and plum orchards still exist alongside many vineyards and small farms. Market gardens feature along
the local roads producing their seasonal vegetables. The English translation of ‘Huapai’ is ‘Good Fruit’.
Our family run grove is established on 1.5 hectares of land on gentle north facing slopes which lead down to a
perennial stream and pond. A flock of geese live comfortably amongst the willows and alders on the water’s edge.
Our soil is predominantly clay loam which, although it has associated drainage issues, contributes well to producing
a full flavoured fruit. We grow three main varieties of olive trees. These are Koroneiki (Greek) Frantoio (Italian)
and Picual (Spanish). A few Pendolino are also grown.
Our fruit is currently hand picked and pressed locally.
